When You Get An Au pair/Nanny Job

Au pair and Nanny PreparationSo you got an Au pair/Nanny Job and now its time for preparation during this time you need organise your things for moving to another country.

Nannies
You should be provided at this point with a written contract or some kind of written agreement either by an agency or independently and should written within 8 weeks of the employment. This will clearly state your duties, free time, length of stay, wages and the amount of notice you need to give before leaving. Don’t be put off by contracts these are really their to safeguard the employer from exploitation and dont take every to heart as you may get more free time than anticipated especially if the parents decide to go out for days trips and afternoons this will give you more time for relaxation and socialising.

Au Pairs
Contracts are not required or widely used in Au pairing jobs, you normally receive a letter of invitation which may or may not specify hours, duties or pocket money if you want to know this you may want to ask the family for a written agreement clearly stating what you want to know. It is always better to have something in writing this will help you later if their is a disagreement. With Au pairing it is normally an informal arrangement and families like it to be flexible so se how it goes and if you dont like anything don’t be scared to say, its better to communicate your problems rather than not liking it and probably then leaving the job.
