The Reasons I Want To Be An Au Pair:

I love children, traveling, and meeting new people. Being an au pair in Australia seems like it will be the perfect opportunity to roll all of my favorite things into one great experience.

My Interests:

I love children, traveling, and meeting new people. I majored in psychology (with minors in Philosophy and Family & human services) at the University of Miami. I completed an honors thesis focused on improving visits to a local children's museum for pre-school age children. During my years at the university I was involved in many activities and clubs. I spent a year volunteering at the Miami Children's hospital where I was a "bedside buddy" who brought the game cart around to different children's rooms to play board games and do art projects with the kids who couldn't leave their rooms. I was also in Alpha Delta Pi sorority, the Wakeboarding club, Swing/ballroom dance club, Psi Chi Natioanl Psychology Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa, and on the Field Hockey club team. I love surfing, snowboarding, traveling, kayaking, camping, and playing beach volleyball. I'm active, energetic, friendly, and adventurous; I love finding new hobbies, meeting new people, learning about other cultures, and trying new things.

Hi! My name is Amanda and I'm a 22 year old American girl. I graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in psychology in May 07 and I'm taking a year off from school before I go on to graduate school. During this break from school I'm going to travel New Zealand from January-April and then look to experience Australia and its culture for several months as an au pair. A few years ago I had a summer job as a nanny for a 2 1/2 year old girl and it was my favorite job experience to date because it felt like I was getting paid to play most of the time. I also have lots of experience babysitting children ranging from age 2 to 14. I have a lot of energy and love staying busy. If I'm looking after you're children you don't have to worry about them watching too much television because I like to stay active and I'm always looking for new fun things to do; I love playing games, reading stories, and playing outside! I'm also a great homework helper - I used to tutor 3rd through 5th grade students when I was in high school.
