Family Letter:

Dear Host Family. I live in a sunny country in which the population is always eager to help and hopeful to see their dreams come true. Summer, sun, beach, nature, happiness are strong inspirations to our songs and parties, making well known our songs like “The Girl from Ipanema”, and our carnival, not less to mention our soccer. We have as many problems as any other country, but we are daily learning to overcome these problems to work towards the construction of a better country. I am from a typical Brazilian family made up by sons of immigrants that contributed to form the great miscellaneous type of the Brazilian people. My grandfathers on my mom’s side are Lebanese while on my father’s side my grandfathers are typical Brazilians. Together, these two different couple joined to form a great family of sons, grandsons and great-grandsons. My mom, Maria Cristina, had four children: Patricia, Fernando (both married), Leandro and me. My parents divorced and my brothers and I moved with my mom to the inland of the state of Sao Paulo , but until today we keep in constant touch with my father, Josue. Our city is small and our family is well-known by everyone. We are very close to our relatives and friends and together we do typical Brazilian parties, Christmas, New Year, Eastern, Carnival or a good barbecue in family without any special motives, just to celebrate life. On these special occasions music is a must. I love music. I studied it for 9 years and I teached the knowledge I acquire during those times for kids during 3 years. It was while teaching music to them I decided to work as a babysitter. One of the kids I babysat was Lucas. I started taking care of Lucas when he was nine years old. From 7 a .m. until 5 p.m. we spent time playing and learning. I used to walk him to school and help him with his homework, seeking to contribute in his education in a positive way as well as assisting him in time-management, nutrition and personal hygiene: “Lucas, it’s time to brush your teeth!” It was throughout these two years spent together with Lucas I learned that children need lots of encouragement to become confident in their decision and a little bit of limit to learn to get over the difficulties in life wisely. This year I work with children from ages 2- 10, in a day care school named We are a team of educators and babysitters that dedicate our lives to take care and educate children as young as 3 moths old. We have break time, art class, sports and school formation for 4-5 years old children. It is a wonderful job that inspired me to seek the Au Pair program. I believe this will be a great experience in my life. I have studied English and Duth constantly, and although I don’t speak it fluently I am increasing my vocabulary for the success of the program. I am eager to contribute to the learning process to the children that will be under my supervision! Hugs and kisses to you, dear family.
