The Reasons I Want To Be An Au Pair:

Hi there! My name is Julia and I am a 19-year-old girl from Gothenburg (the second biggest town of Sweden). I want to become an Au Pair this autumn term (-07) in London, preferably. Surely you must wonder why I want to become an Au Pair. My major reason to become an Au Pair is because I want to improve my English skills and get a natural and as native like pronunciation of the language as possible. Another important reason is, of course, because I love children. I have studied English in school since I was about 8 years old till the age of 18 (straight A’s all along). Most recently I have studied English (Received Pronunciation, phonetics, grammar and cultural studies) for 6 months at the University of Gothenburg (autumn term -06). And one important reason to why I want to become an Au Pair is because I believe the best way of learning a language by heart is by talking and spending time with native speakers. However, my experience of child care is somewhat poor. But I do have some experience, except taking care of my sweet 7-year-younger brother Simon (now age of twelve) and babysitting for neighbours I have done practical working experience (while at secondary school) at a day nursery for two weeks with excellent mark. I am a none-smoking girl with a sense of both humour and duty. My previous job experiences are: • Three years of part time working (simultaneous with studies) as a cashier at a big grocery store called “Hemköp” situated in the central part of Gothenburg. ( during year 2004-2007) • Delivery of Newspapers (summer holiday 2003) My future plans is, hopefully, to start to study law (jurisprudence) in the town of Lund in south of Sweden in autumn term year 2008. At the moment I am attending a Swedish driving school and I am most likely to pass the driving test before the month of June this year. In my leisure time I love spending time with my friends and family. I love music and I also like to workout, especially aerobics and gym. I am able to cook, at least the basic stuff, and when I cook I prefer to cook nutritious and pure dishes e.g. chicken, fish (I love fresh fish, probably because I live in the seaport Gothenburg) with vegetables and wholemeal pasta.
