The Reasons I Want To Be An Au Pair:

I have always been together with children in our family and I love children, because they are so honest and so natural. My wonderful experience as a previous Au Pair in the United States made me want to do it again. I would never want to miss these memories and this time I was allowed to spent there. I think especially when going abroad, it is a great chance to live together with a family and see their way of life in a different culture. I hope that once more this opportunity will be given to me and I am looking forward to hearing from you.

My Interests:

My name is Simone and I am a 25 year old German native. I currently attend university and study English and Spanish in order to become a teacher in the near future. As I study two languages it is important for me to speak both fluently. So therefore I am now looking forward to improve my Spanish language skills. I already spent one year in the United States as an Au Pair. This took place from August 2000 to August 2001. I loved being there and it was a wonderful experience for me to be integrated into a new family. My hostfamily and I are still in contact with each other and we try to see each other every once in a while. So if you should need any sort of references, please do not hesitate and ask me. I live in a small town called Ahlen, which is close to Münster and Dortmund and the rest of the so called "Ruhrgebiet". I do have a boyfriend and we are together for more than 4,5 years and we are planning our future together. I am a very natural, warm-hearted and emotional person, who likes people to be honest, fair and respectful to each other. I disIike superficial people a lot, because I think that certain values are very important for a harmonious life. That is the way I grew up and it is important to me that people care of each other. In my spare time I like to do crafts, some sports and when I have enough time I love to go on weekend trips with friends to see other cities.

Family Letter:

Dear Family, first of all I would like to thank you for your interest in my profile. Now I will try to give you more details about my person. As you have already read in my profile I live together with my parents in a rather small city -called Ahlen, which is located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. This is where I grew up and spent my life so far, except of the one year that I spent in the United States. Most of our family lives here as well or in close by towns. I have got one brother at the age of 30. He is already married. After I came back from the United States I finished my A-levels and at the same time I majored as a foreign language correspondence for English. Right after that I started my studies at the University of Paderborn in October 2004. I study English and Spanish there in order to become a future teacher. I just finished my second four week internship at a local grammar school two weeks ago. I enjoyed it a lot and I am looking forward to finishing my studies. I speak English fluently and my mother tongue is of course German. Therefore I would be more than happy to share my language with your children. My Spanish skills still need to be improved and I have to loose my shyness to speak. When I was an Au Pair in the United States I spent one year with a wonderful family with two daughters. They were 3 and 4 years old when I arrived. This was in 2000 and we are still in contact with each other. In fact the last time we met them was two years ago in Valencia/ Spain and they are planning to come to Germany in August. Now they offered my boyfriend to do his internship in the United States and live with them, while I am in Spain. We are “lucky”, because his internship will start in September, so we would be abroad at the same time. As I really have been a member of the family, I wouldn´t really say that I worked for them, because we just managed everything hand in hand. The things I did were taking the girls to school (they went to a pre-school) and picking them up. Then the girls and I had lunch and then they sometimes took a nap before we got ready for our afternoon activities. They took different classes (swimming and gymnastics) and I took them out to do other things, go to parks, museums, have picnics, do arts and crafts, etc. We did things children like to do. Besides taking care of the children I didn´t have to do much around the house. It was just like home, everyone helped around the house and did things for each other. I think that´s how I could best describe a typical day with my American family. What I would really be looking forward to is a warm-hearted and open-minded family with children that aren´t just spoiled, but are raised with certain morals that unfortunately disappear more and more nowadays.
