British Nanny looking for a nice friendly family starting in 2008! Hi my name is Melanie and I am a qualified British nanny currently finishing a degree in early childhood. I have a GCSE in child development and a BTEC National Diploma in early years. I have previously worked as a mothers help and as an agency nursery nurse. I currently work with a children's centre creche and young mothers once a week. When im at home I enjoy reading good books, keeping fit at the gym, swimming, catching up with my friends and eating out - my favourite food is sushi! I Love to travel! I have recently visited Scotland, Ireland, France, Cyprus and Belgium. Half of my family come from South Africa which I would one day like to visit. I have worked as a camp counselor in Minnesota at a girl scout camp for the last 3 summers which allowed me to visit many different states. I fell in love with Minnesota and Wisconsin and also loved New York, Texas and California! Currently I live in brighton, about 10 minutes from the beach so I learnt to swim from a very young age. I particularly enjoy working with babies as they grow and develop so fast and are interactive from such an early age. I would also love to gain twin experience and would love to gain newborn experience as I have cared for babies from the ages of 2 months and working with very young babies would be a great new experience for me. I enjoyed working with the girl scouts in the summers that I now work with a brownie group in my home town. I feel that outdoor activities are important in healthy development and believe that reading to children as young as babies is also beneficial. Creative play is also a key part of development and something I particularly enjoying doing with children - just give me some glitter and glue and I'll be happy! I am very flexible and adaptable with a positive attitude and would love to live in the US and work with children for a longer period than summer. I have a good sense of humour and love to have fun and have recently finished working as a christmas fairy for santas grotto! From working in the US in the summer I realised I love the way of life, I think I would enjoy working in New York especially as I enjoy city life, however after living in Lacross, WI and Rochester MN I would consider all states!! I would also love to be able to learn a language in my spare time - perhaps pick up French and Spanish again which I finished at high school. I would also love to pick up driving lessons again! I aim to complete a first aid course before the summer as my previous first aid certificates have expired. I am due to finish school around May and am considering returning to camp for a final season, I am looking to start work around October for at least 5 months and am thinking about a longer stay, possibly to go to school. I would love to be able to visit the family in late spring/early fall and a September 2008 start is possible.
