The Reasons I Want To Be An Au Pair:

I would like to be an au-pair because not only do I love children, but I also would love the opportunity to live in a foreign country. I spent 8 weeks in a home-stay in Madrid during the summer of 2007 and absolutely loved the city and the people. Upon returning to the U.S., I could not wait to return to Madrid. Although I have taken Spanish at a university for 3 years, I would love the opportunity to work toward fluency by living with a Spanish-speaking family. I have been babysitting for families for 8 years and have been a nanny in the U.S. for 2 summers. I will be graduating from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN in the spring of 2009 and would be interested in working as an au-pair for 3 to 4 months in the city of Madrid.

My Interests:

I am 21 years old and am from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I am outgoing, responsible, and organized. I also love children and have experience with all ages. I have completed my junior or third year at Vanderbilt University and will be graduating next spring. I am majoring in Child Studies and Spanish at Vanderbilt. During the fall of 2008 I will be applying to the Vanderbilt School of Medicine for Speech Pathology and hope to become a Pediatric Speech Pathologist. In high school I played tennis and ran track. I love music, reading, spending time with friends, and traveling. I also love to go to the beach and love snow-skiing.

Dear Family, Although I will not be available until the spring of 2009, I wanted to go ahead and explore my opportunities. By the Spring of 2009 I will have graduated from Vanderbilt University a top-20 American University with a degree in Spanish and Child Studies. My Child Studies major has allowed me to take classes in Child Development, Special Education, Infancy, Educational Psychology, American Sign Language, and many other areas. In addition, my major in Spanish has allowed me to develop my skills in the Spanish language. Although I am not fluent, I spent 8 weeks living with a family in Madrid and consider myself capable of conversing with both adults and children. I would also love to help young children learn the English language. I would be happy to use either my English or Spanish skills whenever needed. I would love to work with a family that is fun and active.
