The Reasons I Want To Be An Au Pair:

I would like to be an Au pair because I love spending time with children. I think the experience I have gained from my college education as well as practical knowledge from my volunteer experiences will aid me in becoming a great au pair. I think I would be a good fit for most families as I am easy going and easy to get along with. I found babysitting to be one of the most rewarding jobs I have had and think being an au pair would be my new favorite job.

My Interests:

I am a highschool graduate as well as a graduate from college, from a program called Human Services. It teaches the basics of social work, how to be an effective ‘helper,’ diversity, lifespan and abnormal psychology, and also advanced writing and reading skills. I have taken many courses on child development and child welfare, and am very familiar with the psychological changes throughout childhood. I am looking for a job as an Au pair until I start university. I currently work as a manager of a small restaurant and enjoy working with all types of people. I have been working for this company for seven years now. During my free time I like to go to the beach, spend time with family and friends, cooking, go site seeing, and volunteer. In the past I have volunteered working with children whom have disabilities at an organization called ‘The Rotary center.” I have also volunteered at a small not for profit theater, assisting with patron seating and organization. I am currently volunteering my time at a homeless drop-in center two days a week. I also babysit for low imcome families on occation. I have been driving for four years now, and do have my own car here.

Dear Family, I am looking for a new place to call home. My ideal position would be four to six months however I am willing to stay for up to ten months. I would like to start around July 1st 2008, and ending around December 1st, 2008. I am looking for a supportive family, with strong family values, who is excited to get to know a new au pair. I love learning about new cultures and am completely willing to be submursed in yours. I am very flexible and understanding and I am looking for a family with the same. I do not mind doing housework, however I would like to spend most of my time playing, reading and being creative with your children. I am a first time au pair and therefore It is important to me that at least one family memeber speaks english, as this is the only language I speak fluently and communication and honesty are very important to me. I would like to be able to commuicate about my progress and accomplishments. I am looking for a family who is willing to take time to give me suggestions and encouragment on what I am doing well, and what I could do better.
