The Reasons I Want To Be An Au Pair:

I can't think of a more ideal job than one where I get to work with children every day! I think that the process through which children learn language is fascinating, and I would be excited to help children with the process of learning English. I also like the idea that an au pair is part of the family--it seems like an excellent way to learn about Spanish culture and for me to learn the language.

My Interests:

I am a 22 year old woman who recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Gender Studies. I went to school at Coe College, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During my time in college, I worked in Coe College's Writing Center for all 4 years. While there I helped many international students improve their English writing skills--I would be happy to assist older children or parents! in this manner in an au pair position. I have also worked on several college publications and have strong editing skills. I spent one semester studying in Belfast, Northern Ireland. While there, I took an inter-rail trip to Italy and Spain--and I promptly fell in love with Spain! I also spent one semester in Washington, District of Columbia as a Public Policy/Publications intern at a women's organization. For fun, I enjoy going on long bike rides, reading, traveling, trying new food/cooking, boating, soccer and babysitting for awesome kids!

Comprendo mas que puedo hablar or escribir. Trabajo en un centro de escrito por 4 años en mi colegio, y ayudo muchos estudiantes internacional con escribiendo en ingles. If you have school age children, I would be an excellent person to assist them with their English writing skills. My parents are both child development specialists, and I would like to think I have learned a bit about how children learn by reading their books and watching them parent/teach my younger siblings. I think I would be able to translate this knowledge of how children learn to an au pair position. That being said, I believe the best way for kids to learn is by having FUN! I would be excited to take kids on field trips around your city and discuss what we see/learn in English so they learn vocabulary and conversational skills while having fun. I'm very active and would be willing to do outdoors activities with them. I am polite, tidy and friendly, but I have a bad allergy to cats so I would not be able to live in a house with cats. I also have asthma, so I can not live in a house with smoking. I hope you will consider me as an au pair because while I recognize the importance of teaching your children English, I am also excited about fitting in as a part of your family and learning your culture and language.
