The Reasons I Want To Be An Au Pair:

I have many many years of childcare experience. I started babysitting my cousins when I was about 12 years old, and as I had two sisters, our house was a central location for neighbors to call when looking for a babysitter. I worked very closely with a family of two young girls and a newborn boy throughout highschool. In college I worked two summers as a camp counselor and lifeguard, and I worked several seasons as an adventure guide for middle and highschool aged children. The past two years I have been working as a teacher in a bilingual school in Mexico. The first year I taught preschool aged children and last year I taught 4th and 5th grade. I really enjoy working with children and hope to work closely with a family while I am living in Pamplona.

My Interests:

I love to read. I think it would be a dream come true if I could be a writer some day. I like to be outdoors. I have always been involved in running, swimming, biking, and other sports. I grew up in the midwest with my two sisters. My family and I spent many weekends camping, hiking, and canoeing in the northern parts of Minnesota. I graduated with a degree in Recreation Administration, and a minor in English from the University of Iowa. While attending school I worked full time as a waitress, so I am familiar with working while studying. Since graduation I have been working and travelling within latin America. I spent two years living in Costa Rica working as an adventure guide for American children, and two years living in Mexico working as an elementary English teacher. I speak conversational spanish very well and my classes at the University of Novarra will be completely in Spanish so I hope to soon be fluent!

Family Letter:

Something that I have grown to love about latin cultures is the strong ties that exist within families. I grew up in a very large family with a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins and have always felt very lucky to be a part of such a large community. I look foreward to working with your family, to helping around the house, cooking, and participating in whatever I can as a member of your family/ community.
