Family Letter:

Dear Family, I`m 23 years old and I have been studying English and German for two years now. I live in Heidelberg, Germany, which is a very pretty city with lots of old buildings and a great university. I feel very comfortable here abut I think it is so great to explore new cultures and it is the best to experience live in a new country as long as I don`t have a job and my own family. I have previous au pair experience since I lived as an au pair in Atlanta, US for one year from 2004- 2005 taking care of two little girls aged 2 and 4. I have become very good friends with my hostfamily when I spent a year in the United States and I`m very looking forward to meet a nice new family and I think when you get along well it can be a great benefit for everybody. I have a 14 year old sister named Katie who is a very sweet girl who loves to be outside to meet her friends and who is very into animals, she has a hamster and two bunnies. In my freetime I like to draw, to photograph, to swim, to read books, to go to plays and the cinema and to meet friends. I loved to do horseback riding when I was younger but when I grew older it got just too busy and I had to quit. I have some previous experience in taking care of babies since my sister is nine years younger than me and I also used to help out neighbours and friends of my parents out with babysitting a lot. I also attended a padagogics class in school for three years in which we learned a lot about early childhood development. I am also doing a bachelors degree in cultural studies which I have done from home so far, the college sends me all the stuff I need via mail or internet. It takes me about 2-3 hours a day and if it would not be a problem for you I would love to keep on doing it during my time in England. It is really no big effort and I just love to do it because it it so much fun and very very interesting, mainly history, philosophy, literature and politics. I would love to join a nice family, support them and just be a friend to the kids and try to be a loving company for them. Taking care of my American children, we always found something do do, we would stay inside and paint, build tents in their rooms, play with playdough, sing, dressup or cooke when the weather was bad and we loved to go for little hikes in the woods, went to playgrounds, museums, kids story time at the bookstore, go swimming or play tennis and many more things. I would try be be an understanding, caring and fun friend to your kids. I`m familiar with the cooking of a lot of simple healthy meals so it would be no problem to make lunch and tea for the children.
