Dear Host Family,
My name is Debora Marquart, I’m a female of 22 years old and I don’t smoke.
I’m Brazilian and I’m living temporarily in the USA since March 2008 as an au pair of a lovely family of 3 host mother and 2 kids of 2 and 4 years old. I’m coming back to Brazil on April 2009, and then I intend to travel more, to know more cultures, to learn more languages and to become part of other families.
I’m only child but I have an extended and peaceful family that taught me good values and always gives me support.
I’m a very sociable and interactive person. I like to meet people, to make friends, to help other people and I’m warm hearted, always positive and enthusiastic. I love my life and I like to have fun. I’m also creative, and one thing I’m good at is doing handicrafts. Besides, I like drawing, painting, reading, writing, teaching, learning, playing, dancing, listening to music, singing not very well, photographing, swimming, travelling, going to the theatre, cinema, parks, museum, being with friends and family, but the thing I love the most is laughing… It’s easy living with me because I’m open to dialogue, very organized, I have good personal hygiene, I’m honest, patient, generous and kind. I love all kinds of animals but unfortunately I can’t live with cats or dogs, if they live in, because some of them causes me allergy.
I like driving. I got my driving license when I was 18 years old, and I drive every day in the city, high ways, busy roads and country roads, both automatic and stick
shift transitions. I’m a very responsible driver, I have never been involved in a car accident and I’m comfortable driving with children.
I have completed my English and Spanish courses and I’m graduate in Nutrition.
I’m very close to all children I have taken care of. My duties includes feeding, bathing, changing, playing and doing some easy cookery with them, drawing, reading, dropping off and picking up from school, taking them to the park, cinema, zoo, beach, taking care of them in the swimming pool, doing handicrafts, helping them with their homework and getting them ready for bed. I love children because they are sincere, dreamers, hopeful and full of life. They give and need to receive attention and affection. Taking care of children is an important and precious job, and it’s not all about teaching them to listen and respect which is very important, they need to be listened and understood, as well. It is also important teaching them manners and values, and set down limits for them when it is necessary.
This first year as an au pair is being one of the most important experiences of my life. I brought me a lot of good things, I’ve improved my English, I’ve became more independent, I’ve known different places, I’ve met people, I’ve learned about American culture. It’s being great to be part of my host family and I’m very excited about this next adventure, with a new one. I hope we can experience it together.
