What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

Take care of my 1-year old son during the week, Monday to Friday, while I work. Feed him, change him, play with him, make him do his naps, go outside with him, etc. I expect the au pair to cook and prepare the meals for my son when necessary, to clean her room, to do her own laundry and to clean the kitchen after her own use. I will not expect her to clean the apartment nor to do other household tasks.

Family Description:

My son is a charming, lively and happy boy who will be one year old september 8, 2008. I am a single mother who will go back working in September, as a junior high school teacher. I will work roughly between 8 am and 3 pm but will need assistance for a few more hours, notably during transit time and during my weekly shoppind and errands. My son's father is German and lives in the United States. We are separated and he will most likely see his son a few times a year. I speak German as well although I am French-Canadian and speak to my son in French. I speak perfectly English. I would like the au pair to speak to my son either in French, or in German.

Au Pair Letter:

I have traveled and lived abroad as well, so I am always interested in meeting people who have the same interests and open minds! I would look forward to a year where not only would I have an au pair to take care of my son, but a young person with whom I could have interesting and fun discussions. I would leave the au pair plenty of personal time, as I will want to spend as much time as possible with my son when I am home from work. I will do all that is possible so that the au pair has a pleasant and fun experience, and that she learns something about my culture and my city.
