What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

Summer June-August be with 18-mo-old from 8:00-17:00. Take 4-yr-old to summer camp until 12:00 and pick her up. Pick 6-yr-old up from summer camp at 15:00. During school year August - June, be with 18-mo-old during day and pick up kids from school at 15:00. Free to do your own thing from 17:00 until 8:00 next morning on weekdays and on weekends.

I'm from the Basque Country in northern Spain. I speak Basque, Spanish and English. I am a scientist. My wife is American, but she speaks Spanish. She is an immigration attorney. We speak to the kids in Spanish. Our kids are sweet, fun and active. The 18-month-old is an easy baby who eats and sleeps great. The 4-yr-old is very active, and the 6-yr-old is more into quiet activities. They all understand Spanish, but usually speak in English.

If you are someone who will be active when with the kids, who will enjoy singing, dancing, reading and laughing with them, who will speak to them in your native language, we want you. However, we also want you to have your own life outside of the home. We want you to take classes, go out, make friends, and explore the area.
