Who we are: Gina is a Presbyterian pastor who has been the associate pastor of Old First Presbyterian Church of Huntington between 2001 and 2004. She is now one of the pastors of the “Evangelisch Reformierte Kirche” of Laufen, throughly enjoying her work. Benjamin is a classical guitarist currently teaching close to Luzern and performing as much as possible. Julian 1/18/06 is a very outgoing little personality, bright eyed and bushy tailed. Anaïs 3/12/08 right now is very busy growing…To us being parents is a great gift and a wonderful challenge. Right now we are building our own house to settle. Where we are: We live in a small quaint town by the name of Laufen the origins of can be found in the 13th century. Laufen is in Switzerland and about 20 minutes by train away from Basel. The town is surrounded by beautiful hills and offers everything one needs. Basel is a very vibrant city with a lot of cultural things going on. The prestigious University of Basel is one of the oldest in Europe and offers classes in almost every subject. There is also an airport which gets you nearly everywhere in Europe. You are: A young responsible women or man, 18 years or older, who has experience in and enjoys taking care of small children. You are a sociable person who finds the possibility of living in the heart of Europe exciting, yet would be happy not to be dropped all alone in a “big bucket of people”, but to find herself/himself in a new home and family from the security of which you can make many new experiences. We are looking for someone willing to stay for a year or even more. You could start as early as July 1st 2008. We offer: A private room with private phone line and internet hook-up in our new house. The house will be brand new, but we hope already warm and welcoming. The house is in a nice neighborhood, a two minutes walk from the old town of Laufen. The employment will be set with a contract according the guidelines of the Swiss Au pair organization. The salary will be in total CHF 1460.- a month currency exchange rate with the US$ is currently 1:1. This includes room and board, workplace insurance and Swiss social security contribution, which results in a cash salary of CHF 620.-. We are somewhat flexible with the scheduling of the work time so you could find time to pursue personal interests, taking classes and so forth. Your duties: The proposed work time is 32 hours a week, consisting in taking care of the children and helping with the housework. We expect you to be responsible and sensible to the needs of our children and to the living together under the same roof. If you would like to do this in combination with studies or a student exchange program, we are open to explore that possibility.
