What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

Most of your time will be spent cleaning or keeping my 12 year old daughter company. I have a daughter of 12 years and a son of 14 years who is at boarding school. The day starts at 6.30am. You will help give Flora breakfast and walk her to the train station. Until 10am you would tidy and clean the house, including making beds, vacuuming, dusting, loading the washing machine and ironing. Housekeeping is an important part of the job. From 10am to 4.30pm you will have free time to study or attend classes. There a lots of language schools in the area. At 4.30 I would like you to pick my daughter up from the train station and walk her home. You would prepare a simple evening meal for both of you and finish off any ironing. You would be off duty from about 7pm unless babysitting. You will be free at weekends and there are generous amounts of paid holiday. You will have your own room with a television. You will share a bathroom with Flora. You can either eat with Flora and/or make your own meals from whatever is in the fridge. You will be comfortable and well fed!

I work as a writer, mainly from home. Flora is 12, a very chatty girl who is always dancing and singing. She is good company. Harry is 14 and a typical sporty boy. He is at boarding school and comes home for school holidays and some weekends. The children are well mannered and easy to like. They are used to nannies and will be respectful of you. Liking dogs is very important. We have a small terrier. We live near a park and taking him for walks will be something I would like you to help me with. We are situated in Battersea which is just south of the river Thames but is still very central. We live in a small London terrraced house in a fashionable residential area with lots of parks and open spaces. We live off a very popular road with a street market, bars, cafes and shops. Public transport is excellent, both by bus or train, and there are lots of English language colleges around. There are many au pairs, of all nationalities, working locally. Because of my marital circumstances and the age of my daughter, THIS JOB IS ONLY FOR A WOMAN. Sorry.
