What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

--WE HAVE REACHED VERBAL AGREEMENT WITH A CANDIDATE SO ARE NO LONGER LOOKING FOR AN AU PAIR-- WE ARE LOOKING FOR A NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER. Our au pair will need mainly to help care for our 3-year old, so that my wife can more easily welcome our new baby, due late October. He goes to day care Monday-Wednesday all day and Thursday mornings, giving you Mon-Wed off all dayaround 8am-6pm when his daycare starts plus Thursday morning to study, visit, etc. We would also need your help either Friday all day, and either Friday or Saturday mornings. Your responsibilities would involve getting him up, dressed, & over to day care, plus around 3 hours each weeknight evening to pick him up, bring him home, prepare dinner, eat with us, give him his bath / play with him, and put him to bed. We would like you to participate as will we also in day-to-day cleanup e.g. putting dishes in the dishwasher after dinner, picking up toys, maybe some laundry, but we do have a cleaning lady each week who does the ironing, vacuuming, mopping, bathroom cleaning and the like. You might occasionally be asked to stay for a short while with the new baby, for example while my wife goes out or if she occasionally brings our son to daycare, but only if the new baby has just eaten. Our son speaks mainly French but understands English extremely well, as it's my mother tongue. We are a bilingual family -- my wife speaks French to our son, while I speak to him in English. We would wish for our au pair to speak with him in English, as he is just beginning to discover that he can also speak in English if he tries hard, and he seems to enjoy it! You will however have plenty of opportunities to use French with my wife, with our mostly French-speaking friends if you are helping us sometimes when we see them, and of course during your time off as most people in Lausanne don't speak too much English.

Keith is Swiss-American, Jill is Swiss French, and we have a 3-year old boy, and a second child due in October. Boy or girl? It'll be a surprise for us too !. We are rather outdoorsy in our leisure preferences, not at all into TV. We have strong moral values but are not at all religious.

--WE HAVE REACHED VERBAL AGREEMENT WITH A CANDIDATE SO ARE NO LONGER LOOKING FOR AN AU PAIR-- Dear Au Pair, We are looking for a native English speaker to care for our 3-year old, mainly evenings during the week plus Thursday afternoon, Friday morning, and ideally a few hours' help during the weekend as well, perhaps on Saturday morning, this is negociable. If you become our au pair, then you will stay in a studio apartment, about 23 m2 all-in, with your own bathroom, kitchenette, and a separate entrance. We have a small but nice garden, are centrally located in Lausanne, and you can see the lake and mountains from your floor-to-ceiling window. Our home is very private in a dead-end street, with a >2m high wall and a gate around the sides and back, and a fence in front of a plunging drop in front also giving us the view, so we don't get strangers wandering or peering in our garden. It's subdivided into two units our neighbor is a retired gardener. We will pay you a fair salary to be determined based on your experience and hours worked -- we will NOT treat you as an unpaid babysitter on 24-hour call.
