What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

Can you cook for yourself and our Yulianna? Would that be a problem? I am looking for someone who is cheerful and helpful. I would expect you to enjoy cooking, a light housework and childcare. Because basically that is what the job entails. I am easy going about general tidiness, but I am keen to keep a clean kitchen. As this is an area that we will share it is important that you feel the same way. I do not want someone who needs a lot of supervision or guidance. Are you happy with that level of independence? Yulianna is generally well behaved but you will be expected to discipline her and keep her safe. I would also expect you to do one hour of vacuuming each day. Basically we want the upstairs vacuumed one day and the downstairs vacuumed the next day. I would expect you to load and unload the dishwasher daily. You should keep your bedroom and bathroom tidy. You would be expected to clean the other two bathrooms once a week. Your laundry can be done with the families wash or on its own which ever you prefer. The laundry room has a cloth washer and dryer. I would hope that we could take turns cooking the evening meal. At our home meals are informal and simple, with an emphasis on fresh vegetables and fruit.

Hello, my name is Alice. I am 58 years old and live with my husband Gerard and my great niece Yulianna, who is 5 years-old. My husband and I are the legal guardians for Yulianna. She has lived with us for just over a 4 now. My husband and I both have very flexible work patterns and can be home if needed. My husband is a lorry driver with irregular hours. I am an IT consultant who works 8:00-16:00 at a local bank in Swindon. We have two older daughters who are 29and 22. They both live in Bristol, which close enough for them to visit regularly. We love music. We go to music concerts and I sing along to the IPOD. We go camping and to music festivals frequently. We have the internet at home. We are avid readers and all of our book shelves are overloaded. Ours is a happy home. My husband and I don’t fight. We laugh and tease a lot. My husband is famous for his very “British” sense of humour. I am an American who has lived in England for 20 years. We are a fun family. We are work hard and enjoy a happy life. We dance in the kitchen. We have a baby grand piano in the lounge. We have a beautiful private garden and one adorable, five year old daughter. Yulianna is in her first year of school. This is a fun time as she makes new friends and learns to read. Yulianna loves going to the library, riding bike, playing on swings in the back garden. We live very close to some beautiful parks with wonderful play equipment. the walk from our house to Yuli's school is along a bike path which is bordered by woodlands. We live few minutes walk from bus route with a 3 times an hour service that goes both to the town centre and to the west Swindon centre. We live about a 15-20 minute walk away from the West Swindon centre which has a bank, restaurants, pubs, pizza hut, movie theatre, bowling alley, grocery store, library, ice rink, swimming, and sport centre. We are also within a close walking distance to Lydiard Park. This large and beautiful parkland surround a manor house. It has child-friendly play areas. We are less than a 30 minutes from the cities of Bath and Oxford. Bristol is 40 minutes away and London is an hour away by train.

You will be treated as adult. You will always be treated with respect and kindness. We will be very grateful to you for your kindness and care of our daughter. We will share our home with you. Your friends and family will always be welcome in our home. We can be very flexible if you need time off. We have a 5 bedroom house, with 3 bathrooms. You would have your own bedroom and you would share a bathroom with Yulianna. Your bedroom is large and has a double bed, CD/Radio/Tape music system, and large closet. A TV could be provided.
