What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

Drop off and pick up daughter from school, then play with her/supervise her until my return from work. Light housework including ironing and shared cooking - willing to teach cooking. Most of all we would expect the au pair to be friendly and good with children and to stay for a while!

Family Description:

We are a small family - just myself (26), my daughter (6) and our cat and hamster - both girls so we are an all girl family! We are very busy, my daughter enjoys ballet and we go to church together. I run a drama group on a Sunday and also attend the local brass band. We love to go on trips together, be it the cinema or free trips like walking and play park. We are very friendly and loving.

Au Pair Letter:

Dear Au Pair I thought I would write to introduce us. We are a small family – just me (Marie) and my daughter (Sarah-Jane), who is 6 years old. We also have a beautiful cat called Biscuit and a hamster called Pebbles – both girls so we are an all girl family! Biscuit loves Pebbles and often sits on top of her cage and watches her play. We live in Wilsden, which is a pretty West Yorkshire village in between Bingley and Bradford, which is need Leeds in the north of England. Wilsden is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, so its very beautiful scenery round here with plenty of places to visit on the bus or train during the summer. We like to go on picnics at the weekend if the weather is nice – although it has been raining now non-stop for 2 weeks so we haven’t been able to get out much! We are a typical traditional British family who have a very busy life and love to do all sorts of things. We go to church on a Sunday and take part in the village show in summer – sometimes I will bake a cake (I even won 3rd prize one year!) but Sarah-Jane likes to enter all the children’s show entries. I am a member of a typically Yorkshire brass band, - www.wilsdenband.co.uk – and we go all over West Yorkshire in the summer to play at bandstands in parks. If you came to join us you would be welcome to come along on these trips to see lots of different places. I also run a drama group, but we have a break during the summer and will start again in September. We like to go bowling, to the cinema and theatre whenever we can. We love swimming and go as much as we can. Sarah-Jane loves to ice skate, but I can’t I’m terrified of the ice so it would be great if you could ice skate because I am sure Sarah-Jane will want to go to the local ice rink often! As you can see we like to keep busy. We would offer an insight into tradiational british life. We have with us a summer au pair from Poland who is just lovely and she is having a very good time and is very happy. My daughter loves her.
