What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

Getting the children ready to go to school and creche and picking them up in the afternoon. Babysitting on average 2 times during the week and also during the weekend. Do the things at home as you do in your own home.

We are a family with 3 young boys ages 5, 3 and 18 months old. We both work full time.

Au Pair Letter:

Dear au pair, We are a young family with three small boys. Our children are Louis, 5 years, Maurice, 3 years and Alphonse, 18 months. During daytime, the children will be at school and at the crèche except during school holidays so you will have plenty of time off. Your task is mainly due in the morning: help us dress and feed children, get them to the school and crèche and in the afternoon: get children from school and crèche, entertain them, feed them, put them in bath. Both school and crèche are very close so you can do everything on foot! In the evening we like to go out for sports on a regular basis. Whole evening babysitting will on average happen 2 times a week. Same during weekends but this will always be negotiated beforehand. When we go on holiday with the children, we would like the au pair to join us. Usually we go to France. We live in the centre of Gent, Belgium, which is an old historical town with lots of cultural interest. We ourselves also live in a historical house with large rooms and lots of atmosphere. We also have a large garden. Gent is a great town to live in. It’s well known for its shops and restaurants. There is a university and several high schools so there are lots of young people around. There are several possibilities for language or other courses. In our family we speak Dutch but my wife and I also fluently speak French, English and German. My wife and I are both doctors and we work full time. For the last 5 years, we have been a host family and we know what to expect from you and what you can expect from us. The most important requirement is flexibility because we have a busy work and live schedule. We will however make sure that you have plenty of time off.
