What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

Prepare breakfast, clear breakfast. take 4-yr old to nursery (2 min walk) at 9 o´clock. When house is empty do light housework, hoover, mop floor (not every day though!)tidy kitchen, empty/fill dishwasher, wash/hang/iron/fold clothes, clean bathrooms 1-2 times/week.

Family Description:

MUM - works full time, very hands on with children and housework when home. Works daytime. Not a lot of evening activities, maybe once/week. DAD - working away, not in the country /hence need for au pair!) DAUGHTER age 13 - not your typical teenager, very helpful and reasonable, but busy with sports and school. Very independent as far as school is concerned, gets up, makes own breakfast if needed, goes to school without help. SON age 10 - kindhearted, but too busy for his own good sometimes. Needs probing with homework. DAUGHTER age 4 - sweet and sometimes naughty, very funny to be with.Goes to nursery five days a week 9-16. DOG - spinger spaniel with big kind heart, the ultimate family dog.

Au Pair Letter:

Do you want to be the extra pair of hands we need in our household this autumn? MY husband is planning on working over seas for at least the next year, and hence we need som extra help, primarily with regards to our youngest. Who we are? Read above! Your day will start at 7, when I would like you to help with breakfast and to get our children off to school. When the house is empty I would like you to tidy and clean. Just the usual stuff: hoover, mop (some days) clean bathrooms and kitchen and help out with the washing. No one expects a Dobby (read Harry Potter? We are all big fans!), but even if I would like the children to learn to tidy their own mess they nedd help with it, and working full time I will need help with helping them! The kids drop back in around 2-4 in the afternoon, the youngest last, at 4 o`clock, when you pick her up. They need a snack then, and sometimes more (dinner if eldest daugther is going off to training). You don´t need to be a great cook, but help preparing for dinner (making sure there is something to cook, sometimes shopping in nearby shops) will be appreciated. You will have most evenings free and by far most weekends (I might ask you to babysit on occassion, though!). Your room is at a very private end of our house and has it´s own bathroom and shower - and even access to pool and sauna (which we share, and then we use "your" shower too!) Most of all you have to love children and dogs and have a sense of humour!
