What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

I would require an au pair to play with and engage my child, although they would also be required to make his meals and I would ask that they tidy up after him, (pick up toys and wash him off). If the weather allowed I would like my son to be taken for a walks or to play in the park across the street from our place.

Family Description:

I am a single mother who is 22 and attends Lakehead University, working towards a degree in Social Work. My son is 15 months old and is a very well behaved, independent child. He does throw mini temper tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants, but it is nothing unusual for a child his age.

Au Pair Letter:

Hello, I desperately need trustworthy, reliable help to watch my 15 month old son during the day between Monday and Friday. The hours fluxuate a little since they do go around my classes. I would expect you to play and engage with my son and if weather permits to have him taken outside either for a walk or to play at the park across the street from our place. I would also expect to have any mess made by him while you are here to be tidied, no major housework required. You would also be responsibe for his meals, but since he is a picky eater, no real cooking is involved. I would leave a list of what he would eat, a rough schedule that he would follow and make sure all the food he required was in the house for your convenience. My son is fun-loving and easy going and needs someone like him who can also be firm when needed. He needs someone who is loving and compassionate, but can also understand that a clumsy child like him is going to end up with bumps and bruises and will not beat themselves up about it.
