What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

Being active with the kids, time outdoors, playgroup, library, occasional crafts/art. Cleaning up behind the kids somewhat. Occasionally preparing a meal or starting a meal for the family on longer days. We really want someone who loves kids and who will just spend time with them and maintain a caring and somewhat stimulating environment. We do have a television but do not like out kids to watch too much television or see too many DVDs.

Family Description:

We are happily married with two lovely boys. One will be just one and the other will be almost 3. They love books and music and the outdoors. They are both easy going and they like to keep busy. They are both good eaters. They both nap in the day. Their father coaches at the beginning and end of the school year. That means three longer days per week during those months. Their mother is a midwife going back to work part-time, who will only be working half of the month. So we only need a caregiver for half of the month and perhaps for the occasional day in between. We will not need anyone for most of the summer, for over March Break, and for over Christmas, due to their father's school holidays.

Au Pair Letter:

Thank you for your interest in our family. Basically we are looking for a part-time position for about two weeks total per month with a few extra days or part days throughout. We are looking for a live out position. We are looking for a female care provider. We are looking for someone who loves to work with children and knows that this is what she wants to do. We do want our children to be stimulated, but, more importantly, we want them to be in a caring, supportive environment where they can grow, learn and develop to their full potential. Some structure and regular activities/outings (even to the park or backyard) are important (probably for your sanity as much as their stimulation). Finally, we want to stimulate the development of faith and social consciousness in our children and would want someone who is comfortable with saying a basic prayer with them at meals and with supporting our philosophies as parents.
