What We Expect From Our Au Pair:
Assist with bedtime routine. Eat meals with family on working days (interactive time to talk). Need someone who is flexible with work hours. During winter months need early Sat morning til lunch. Expect au pair to want to be part of our family and ring their family background into our home and teach our children other cultures. We are not religious but will be happy to accept someone who is so long as the time required for religion does not clash with our requirements. They're will be 2 possibly 3 days a week not required to work (waiting for uni timetable confirmation pending). We ask that if they are not working but wish to stay at home that they treat our home like theirs and not as a hotel ie if something needs to be done (eg dishes in sink put in dishwasher)then do it as a member of our family not as a chore. Small amount of cleaning and ironing of kids clothes only to be done.

Family Description:
We are a family of six Dad is Charles - runs multi national transport company and works long days - six days per week. Mum is part time Uni student and is the Mini's coordinator of a Rugby Union club. Eldest son Curtis is 5 (6 in August) just started school this year and is enjoying himself - plays Rugby Union. Reuben is 3 (4 in March) attends day care 3 days per week. He has a very funny disposition - I think he's the family comedian. Ryan is the youngest of the 3 boys he is 2 (3 in June) he loves to rough and tumble with the older boys but definitely comes off second best alot of the time, He also attends day care 3 days per week. Then there's the baby girl of the family Gabrielle she is 16 months old (2 in September) and she is the princess of the home. She is very vocal and puts her brothers in their place. She is adored by them and knows it....We are a busy family and will greatly appreciate the help of an au pair to help maintain the smooth running of our home. We like to have fun outdoors and Sunday is our family day where we usually like to go out somewhere...bbq, city, drive etc...

Au Pair Letter:
The au pair that will suit our family MUST be energetic, 3 young boys and a girl is hard work and exhausting - it won't be a walk in the park. For the most part the kids love to play and I can't give them all my time otherwise housework and other chores will never get done...We take regular breaks and holidays to the north coast of NSW to a place called Forster. The au pair must be flexible with work times. Chores are not big jobs in our home but assistance with doing chores OR minding children whilst I do them is of benefit. I need the au pair to be proactive and conscious of what needs to be done and I don't like asking all the time so iniative is important eg (clothes left on bathroom floor - just put them in laundry no need to ask or be aked to do this). For the au pair, please consider the amount of time you want to work for a family as you need to have time for travel too. Most who come from o/s are intending travelling around at some point. It is important for the host family to be kept in the loop if your travel details change. Life can be stressful with so many kids wanting a piece of you. I wouldn't be fair to you if I didn't be totally honest and say that somedays are harder than others (and I'm their mum) especially if missing loved ones from home. Perserverance is the key and as long as the au pair and I can keep the lines of communication open then they should really enjoy their stay with me and my beautiful family. Good luck and best wishes and if you happen to stay with us then I hope you enjoy your time.
Thank you and kind regards Sandra Palmer
