What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

If you want to become Au Pair with us here is a list of what we expect from you : Care about the kids like if they were the pupil of your eyes and listen to them to play, if possible be outside when the weather is sunny, be carefull about their alimentation (less sugar as possible, no eat in between meals, eat fruit as often as possible and drink water only) Daily duties Basically you are in the house to help me (Claire) and do what I usually do of season (we don’t have a housecleaner during the winter). Please note that we are an open air family, we think housecleaning is not a priority, but sometimes has to be done. We don’t do the dust for exemple, it’s an old farm house that cope very well with dust ;-). The thing is that if I don’t work, I want to spend as much time as possible with my kids, so basically you are off when I am with them and I will try this as much as possible. What I do in the winter regarding house keeping : set up the table (kids, at least Justin helps me) and clean (Stephan usually helps as well) put the dish in the dish washer at night and empty and put in the cupboard in the morning wipe the floor after meals around the table and in the kitchen start a washing machine at night and hang out outside when good weather or upstairs if bad weather help kids have their room tidy (more or less) help Justin to do his homework help Marius to go to the pot (ask him as often as possible and encourage him, If he does poor or pi, clap you hands and congratulate ! change bed sheets every 2 weeks or more if accident or see they are dirty. cook dinner (we usually eat the left overs or snck for lunch, Marius eats early around 11.30 am and usually sleeps between 1 and 4 pm. - go food shopping once or twice a week. You are welcome to cultivate fresh vegetable or go to the local market, we like organic food, but it’s very expensive in France. We try to eat fish twice a week and kids and myself don’t enjoy muchred meat. Lodge environment As you might have see on our website www.naturalsurflodge.com, we live in a very natural environment, 7 km away from the beach and 10 minutes ride from Hossegor down town. We welcome people from all over the world and that’s good if you want to get some addresses to travel after the season ! You will be able to use the Lodge facilities when off(spa, bikes, canoes, communal room for TV and dvd’s). Usually you eat with us except for one night (your day off). You are like at home in our house, you can help yourself in the fridge, when you go shopping, you can shop tyhings you like to eat so we can experience new meals or food. We might ask you to give Lodgers a ride to the beach or take them shopping when you go for the family. We try to be as environmentaly friendly as possible (turn off the lights when leave a room, don’t stay to long under the shower, thry to thing before using the car if you can use the lift with someone or take the bin to the recycling when go shopping....). Your environment You will have your own room with bathroom that you will share with the person that works with us from june til septembre. His name is Chacha, he is a very nice and sensitive person. he plays the guitare and is very open and easy going. everybody likes him. As I said above the Lodge is yours as well and you can sympathise with the clients. Good if you want to travel around Europe after your stay with us We try to give you a day off once a week, 75 euros/week, one week of holidays paid every 6 months (you will take it a the end of the contract). If we can’t you will get it anyway, but at another time. You pay for your personal expenses (toothpaste, shampoo...). You will be able to take french classes with french teacher, twice a week (2 hours), 8 euros/class it was last year (not in July and August, but you will practice with us !). For now I write english because I want to be sure you understand what we expect.

Family Description:

We are a family of 4, dad Stephan, mum Claire, JUSTIN 6 AND LITTLE MARIUS 2and half. we are outdoor family, active and independant. We run as urf camp in south west france near biarritz and are both surf instructors.

I said a lot above from what we expect from an au pair. if you like nature and outdoor, if you are independant but also want to meet people you will be happy with us.
