What We Expect From Our Au Pair:

We will be pleased to welcome someone who is an honest, reliable and trustworthy person. Therefore a high level of personal integrity is important. We will expect someone who is mature, experienced with good initiative. Someone who is able to carry out tasks to a high standard without supervision. To be part of our family. The main responsibility is caring for the children, taking them to activities and general cleaning. We have modern appliances and will not expect clothes washing or household shopping to be done by the au pair. We will also provide a mobile phone with a monthly top-up of ten pounds. I would love to learn how to cook some traditional dishes from your country. My loves helping to bake cakes and cooking generally. The weekly pay is negotiable to reflect the ability and experience of the au pair. The character and type of person is perhaps as important as their experience and abilities.

Family Description:

I am forty years old and currently work part-time for a local authority in London. My husband is forty-two and works from home. We speak English at home - we dont know how to speak each other's language, but will learn over time. We have 2 mutual children one of each sex. They are truly a blessing to us and such a joy to be around. We enjoy their sunny characters and contagious laughter and warmth they bring into our home. They are not at all difficult children to manage. For example, they sleep at the specified time without tears, tantrums or fuss usually. Our daughter delights in choosing and having a bedtime story read to her. Neither children are fussy eaters. We live in a three bedroom house with our 4 year old daughter and baby son. Our daughter goes to nursery school, which we take her to and collect her from. There is plenty to do in our town, with a vibrant multi-cultural community. It has many shops, a post office, two gyms, a cinema, bingo hall, parks, duck pond, several restaurants, banks, doctors, dentists, schools a college, a train station and a supermarket. There is also a bus stop close to our house with direct access into neighbouring city centres. You will have your own bedroom and share the family bathroom with the children my husband and I have our own bathroom. We have a front and back garden, which the children especially enjoy on sunny days. We love family days out, including theme parks, family functions and swimming. As part of our family, you would of course be invited to join us. We do not have any pets and we do not smoke. We would prefer an au pair to start with us by May and stay for 2 years. There may be an option to drive a car and we can arrange some driving lessons if required. This is an option and not an essential requirement.
